Our Work

Walk The Beat White Lake Area gives the gift of music to local residents.

Our free lessons, instruments, and education program provides children and young adults in the community the ability to learn and grow through music. Awards from funds raised during the 2032 event were given out at The Playhouse at White Lake on April 30, 2024.

Walk the Beat White Lake Area
supports the community, businesses, musicians, and nonprofits.

Our annual street music festival and raffle partner with local businesses, sponsors and nonprofits. On the third Saturday afternoon in July, thousands of people come out to “walk the beat” throughout the downtown areas of Montague and Whitehall. This live cultural performance provides opportunities for working musicians, free musical entertainment brings business into the community!

43 Students received awards. Over 100 guests attended the Kick off event at The Playhouse at Whitehall on april 30, 2024.

Whitehall Mayor Steve Salter, Montague Mayor Tom Lohman, Walk the Beat Award Committee Co-Chairs Chris Billie and Sara Kane-Smart handed out the awards.

    Walk the Beat accepts written requests for instruments, music lessons, voice lessons, or other musical educational opportunities to give youth a chance to learn and grow.

    Volunteer registration is always open. Be a part of Walk the Beat’s cool music scene. You can request information on volunteer opportunities at Albion, Grand Haven, or White Lake Area Walk the Beat Music Festivals.

  • Donate An Instrument

    Have an old instrument in your home? We will refurbish your instrument and find it a new home with a youth in the White Lake Area. New instrument donations are always welcomed!
